What does the council do?

The Council's many duties fall into the following areas:

• ASSESS
• ADVISE
• RECOMMEND
• FACILITATE
• PARTICIPATE

We ASSESS the child care needs in our county, and then develop a long-term plan to address those needs.

We ADVISE the Yolo County Board of Supervisors and the Yolo County Office of Education of our county's need for quality child care and development services.When child care related government funding becomes available to our county, we RECOMMEND to the California Department of Education how and why that funding should be used in Yolo County.

We FACILITATE communication & cooperation between various child care and development related agencies, businesses and individuals in the county.

We PARTICIPATE as volunteers. Although we are a mixed panel of parents, representatives of community and public agencies, county citizens, public & private child care centers and family child care providers, we stand together as representatives of the children in this county who are too young to stand for themselves.
