Do You Qualify to Receive Assistance Paying for Your Child Care?

The county has many different kinds of subsidized child care programs. There are part day programs to provider pre-school age children with activities to help them gain the skills they need to succeed in school, such as Head Start and State Pre-School. There are also full day child care programs for parents who need to use full time care in order to work, attend school or seek employment. These programs also provide a pre-school curriculum as well as meals and nap time. There is also a program that allows parents to choose the private licensed child care center, family child care provider or licensed exempt provider of the parent’s choice called the Alternative Payment Program. The Alternative Payment Program serves infants through 12 year olds and can provide evening and week-end care. There are a few programs that serve special populations of children, such as children of teen parents or children with special needs.

All subsidized child care programs have income eligibility requirements and individual programs may have other requirements as well. There may be waiting list for some of these programs.

To find out more information about these programs call 530-757-5695 or from West Sacramento 800 723-3001. If you qualify you can be placed on the County Wide Eligibility List for subsidized child care.
