Do You Qualify
to Receive Assistance Paying for Your Child Care?
The county has many different kinds of subsidized child care
programs. There are part day programs to provider pre-school
age children with activities to help them gain the skills
they need to succeed in school, such as Head Start and State
Pre-School. There are also full day child care programs for
parents who need to use full time care in order to work, attend
school or seek employment. These programs also provide a pre-school
curriculum as well as meals and nap time. There is also a
program that allows parents to choose the private licensed
child care center, family child care provider or licensed
exempt provider of the parent’s choice called the Alternative
Payment Program. The Alternative Payment Program serves infants
through 12 year olds and can provide evening and week-end
care. There are a few programs that serve special populations
of children, such as children of teen parents or children
with special needs.
All subsidized child care programs have income eligibility
requirements and individual programs may have other requirements
as well. There may be waiting list for some of these programs.
